Tracking vehicle recalls over the years 

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration marked a record year in 2014, with the highest number of vehicle recalls due to NHTSA investigations and enforcement efforts in more than three decades. The annual recall report shows that in the last year there were 803 vehicle recalls involving 63.9 million vehicles, including two of the largest vehicle recalls in history. NHTSA investigation and enforcement efforts influenced 123 of these vehicle recalls that affected 19.1 million vehicles.
